October 2014

This month was full of both joyous occasions and very sad ones.  We lost Pat's dad Jack on October 4th.  He had been sick for a while and had been in and out of the hospital and rehab center but of course it was still a blow.  It happened  on the same day as the annual Oktoberfest so I took the kids there to keep them occupied while Pat dealt with all of the typical family/funeral stuff.  We miss him every day and try to remember all of the good times we had together when we are sad.

We miss you Grandpa Murphy!

Pat and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on October 9th and spent the weekend in Stratford, Ontario seeing a of couple plays.  This is where we got engaged back in 2003, so it was nice to be back after so long.  We even stayed at the same bed and breakfast.  It was bittersweet though being so close to the loss of his father.

This month also brought us a trip to the cinder mill with the Murphy crew and a trip to Tilson Street which is a huge Halloween display on one of the local streets in Romeo.

Halloween was a complete washout this year.  It rained, snowed, and the wind was howling so we decided to have our own Halloween party indoors.  Costumes were required even though someone (Pat) was not happy about it!
